Adv Elaine Harrison (Director of Public Prosecutions: KwaZulu-Natal; previously Adv Elaine Zungu)

Adv Elaine Harrison served as the Director of Public Prosecutions for KwaZulu-Natal, initially appointed in an acting capacity in May 2019 before being permanently appointed on 1 November 2019. A career prosecutor who joined the NPA in 2000, her responsibilities included supervising and directing criminal proceedings and coordinating prosecutors in the province. Before the commission, she testified about frustrations in coordinating NPA efforts with a task team and expressed concerns about unclear information regarding a letter. She affirmed that she has always exercised her mandate without fear, favour, or prejudice.
