Thuso Keefelakae

Thuso Keefelakae is the Director, Investigation and Provincial Coordinator at the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID). His testimony before the commission focused on IPID’s work in the Gauteng region, particularly Ekurhuleni, and included reference to investigations involving Brigadier JM Mkhwanazi. He faced questions about whether his mention of “the MEC” referred specifically to the MEC for Community Safety, and about follow‑up actions taken at the Meyerton Police Station after earlier testimony by Commissioner Spies. Keefelakae also remarked on falsehoods being told and names being dropped in connection with the matters under inquiry.
