Lt Colonel Paul Khumalo

Lt Colonel Paul Khumalo of the South African Police Service testified about a career that began in 2005 with the National Intervention Unit in Cape Town, followed by promotions to warrant officer in 2011, captain in 2017, and later coordinator and planning officer under the National Operation Coordination Office. He served as operational commander of the District Operational Command Centre and was deployed in 2018 as a TACJOC commander at the PKTT, a unit he described as collaborating with dedicated prosecutors. Khumalo faced questions about a dismissed application, acknowledging he may have been at fault for not gathering all the facts, and expressed surprise at a witness’s contradictory statements.
