Jeff Wicks

Jeff Wicks (also referred to in the record as Jeff Wiggs) is a figure whose concerns about the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) drew scrutiny during the commission’s proceedings. His complaints, raised through correspondence, brought to public attention the transfer of vehicles and donations to the city, including allegations about the fitting of blue lights and the authority of a private security firm linked to Mr Matala. Commission members noted that the issues Wicks raised were matters EMPD officials either knew about or could readily have established, questioning the fixation on obtaining his statement. His role was seen as potentially concretising claims, such as those from Chris Steyn, that no blue lights were fitted.
