Brightman Vusi Mthembu

Brightman Vusi Mthembu is a truck driver whose testimony before the commission centred on a single haulage job in July 2021. He described receiving container collection details from his company, picking up the container at Durban Harbour, and driving it to Roodekop, where he arrived around 20:20. The following morning, he inspected the truck and found the seal still intact before being informed that police would escort him to Aeroton for a search. He faced questions about the arrest of the truck's driver on drug-related charges, and testified that he tried to explain to the police officer that he did not know what was inside the container.
