Captain Maxwell Thulani Wanda

Captain Maxwell Thulani Wanda is a 30-year veteran of the South African Police Service, currently attached to the Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC) in Richards Bay. In testimony before the commission, he described himself as a qualified crime scene investigator, photographer, videographer, draftsman, and fingerprint expert, as well as a crime scene investigation manager. His role, he explained, involves ensuring the proper collection and preservation of evidence at crime scenes to maintain its integrity and admissibility. He also noted his involvement with the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT), where his expertise was called upon to process scenes requiring specialised forensic support.
