First Applicant (Mr. Matlala)

Mr. Matlala, the first applicant in the matter before the Commission, sought through his legal representative to challenge the Commission's authority to compel his testimony. His counsel indicated that Matlala had launched a High Court application to interdict the Commission from forcing him to appear or answer questions, citing concerns that his testimony could incriminate him despite his status as a witness rather than an accused.
