Brigadier Sekgobela served as the DPCI Serious Organised Crime Provincial Commander, described by Colonel Francois Steyn as his direct commander. During the commission’s proceedings, testimony recounted that a witness was received by General Kadwa, Colonel Sebola, and Colonel Ludick, and that Kadwa instructed her to contact Magane’s superior and Phakula to check whether they knew of the officers’ presence at Aeroton. Counsel questioned whether the officers’ participation and explanations suggested they were genuinely on duty, and raised concerns about their failure to disclose their informant, the parcel’s destination, and the reason for the interception—asking whether this could constitute obstruction of justice.
