Warrant Officer Sibiya

Warrant Officer Sibiya, later promoted to Captain, was a police officer whose involvement in the handling of a container at Isipingo placed him at the centre of scrutiny during the commission. Testimony described Sibiya accompanying Lieutenant Colonel Jacob and others to photograph the container as it was prepared for inspection, and later joining a Crime Intelligence member to locate the alleged container. However, Sibiya’s presence drew pointed questions from counsel, who suggested he was a very junior person, unconnected to narcotics work, and potentially "pliable"—someone who might tell a story as directed.
