Deputy Director Manilall

Deputy Director Manilall—referred to variously as Mr Manilall, Chief Manilall, and Advocate Santhos Manilall—is a Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions who led prosecution teams in matters before the commission. His role was described as coordinating and directing evidence collection and guiding both prosecutors and investigators within those teams. He was also said to have been vested with other matters, including the Transnet matters. Questions were raised about whether he was the one who decided on investigators’ assignments, and a witness statement noted that he was informed in late April 2025 of discord amongst a team he oversaw.
