Mr Xulu

Mr Xulu is an investigator with the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID), whose work on the so-called "Blue Light" matter drew scrutiny during the commission's proceedings. Testimony indicated that his involvement in that investigation predated and was unrelated to concerns raised by a witness in January 2024, with counsel asserting the two were "completely unrelated." He was described as a senior investigator normally deployed in KwaZulu-Natal, having been recalled to conclude a section 205 application and a statement. In interviews with an Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department officer, he introduced himself as the official investigating the Blue Light saga, discussed departmental responses to media enquiries, and requested written statements, assuring interviewees he would work "tirelessly" on the matter.
